We share these glimpses with immense pride. August 3rd was a truly memorable day as we celebrated a momentous occasion: the graduation of 140 recipients from our Skilling and Livelihood program! This incredible achievement was made possible through the support of our grant partner, Ciena. The ceremony took place across our Dundahera, Manesar, and New Kondli centers. Our recipients completed their certification training in trades such as IT-ITeS, BFSI, and Telecom courses. The ceremony filled everyone present with hope and inspiration. Highlights included an inspirational speech by our Founder and Managing Trustee, Dr. Kiran Modi, and a visionary Nukkad Natak by our Manesar telecom students, themed “Now and 5 years later – a visionary future.” Graduates had the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, directing their career-related questions to the Ciena and Udayan Care leadership panel. These weren’t just about navigating professional life, but were valuable life lessons for leading a dignified and progressive future. As the day ended, everyone left with a renewed sense of hope and valuable life learnings, ready to start their future journeys. #SkillingForChange #GraduationDay #EmpoweredToThrive #FutureReady #UdayanCare #WithCiena #HopeInAction #VisionForTheFuture Ciena India Kiran Modi| Anjali Hegde| DEEPAK SHARMA|Sanjay Gupta|Jitesh Dhoot|Arun Kumar|Sanjjana Bhowmicck|Swati Roy Prasad|Leena Prasad| Prashant Singh| Joshi M.|Alka Kanojia| Paritosh Singh (MCR)| Ashok Tyagi| Shreya Chakraborty| CS Sakshi Shukla

We’re honored to contribute a chapter from India?“Is Someone There for Them? Care Leavers’ Experiences, Challenges, and Support During and After Residential Care”?authored by Dr. Kiran Modi, Dr Gurneet Kalra, and Ms. Leena Prasad?in the newly released edited volume?Social Support of Young People in and after Residential Care: Is Someone There for You? An International Perspective?(1st Edition, Routledge Taylor & Francis). The book brings together global perspectives to better understand and strengthen aftercare support.?This volume spans with contributions from more than a dozen countries, delivering rich comparative insight. It includes chapters grounded in Portugal, Israel, Canada, Ghana, the Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, Australia, the United States, Ireland, Norway, and more.?Each chapter examines social support for young people in residential care or transitioning out of care covering diverse experiences.?Together, these global contributions form a compelling international perspective on what social support means across contexts and what is possible. In our chapter, we centre the voices of care leavers (CLs) in India along with insights from child protection functionaries. By spotlighting critical gaps in emotional support, mentoring, transition planning, and awareness of aftercare provisions, the?reflections?point to how limited social networks affect their education, independent living, and overall well-being. We advocate for more robust peer networks, transition mentoring, and policy reforms to build stronger aftercare systems in India. We’re truly privileged to be part of this collection, bringing India’s narrative into global scholarly dialogue. We were honored to host a Harvard Business School #volunteer at Udayan Care, where he witnessed the heart of our FiT Families Together program in action. The one experience he’ll never forget? “Walking into the FiT Centre at Dallupura Village—children and families, beaming with joy and warmth. That’s when it truly hit me: this is what strengthening families looks like.” Experiences like these don’t just leave an impression—they expand our lens for leadership, empathy, and system change. Thank you for walking alongside us in this journey of dignity and reintegration. #FamiliesTogether #StrengtheningFamilies #SocialImpactLeadership #EmpathyInAction #FiTWithUdayanCare #UdayanCareImpact #DignityForAll Kiran Modi| Anjali Hegde| DEEPAK SHARMA|Jitesh Dhoot|Arun Kumar|Sanjjana Bhowmicck|Swati Roy Prasad|Leena Prasad| Prashant Singh| Joshi M.

12 million girls globally are forced into child marriage every year. India alone accounts for?one-third of the world’s child brides, but change is possible — and it's already happening. Our partnership with?Shaadi.com?has reached?10,000+ girls?over five years — equipping them to?pursue livelihoods, build confidence, and?delay marriage. Together, we’re not just supporting girls — we’re helping them?lead their futures. source: UNICEF India #UdayanCare #EndChildMarriage #UdayanShaliniFellowship #EmpowerHer #LetGirlsLearn #ShaadiDotComPartnership #ChangeIsPossible Kiran Modi| Anjali Hegde| DEEPAK SHARMA|Jitesh Dhoot|Arun Kumar|Sanjjana Bhowmicck|Swati Roy Prasad|Leena Prasad| Prashant Singh| Joshi M.

What does it really take to make youth employable in India? It's not just about skills. At Udayan Care, what began as a few digital literacy classes has evolved into a comprehensive, placement-driven skilling program—grounded in community, guided by national priorities, and shaped by over 20 years of learning. From modest beginnings to major milestones — Neetu, Anjali, and Reena, Shalinis from North Delhi and West Mumbai, have cleared their CA Intermediate exams with grit and grace. Thanks to Deloitte's support and mentorship, not only did they receive coaching fee reimbursements, but they also earned Articleship opportunities at Deloitte itself — a rare and well-deserved step forward. From daily-wage households to professional success, their journey is a powerful reminder: when given the right support, dreams do find their footing. We're proud of these Shalinis and thankful to Deloitte for walking this path with them. We had the pleasure of hosting Ryan Jackson from Harvard Business School, whose visit to Udayan Care offered a meaningful glimpse into how community-based programs strengthen families from the inside out. What left a lasting impression on her? Hearing firsthand how Udayan Care's FiT Families Together Program team builds trust not just with children, but with families, creating safe spaces where communication, support, and understanding can grow. Ryan reflected on how this integrated approach to care, focusing on Dignity, Connection, and Long-term change, is something she'll carry with her far beyond Udayan Care India. Thank you, Ryan, for recognizing the heart of family reintegration and standing with us in this journey. #FiTFamiliesTogether #UdayanCare #FamilyReintegration #CommunityCare #DignityAndConnection #SocialImpact #HarvardBusinessSchool #StrengtheningFamilies #ChildProtection #LongTermChange Kiran Modi|DEEPAK SHARMA||Jitesh Dhoot|Arun Kumar|Sanjjana Bhowmicck|Swati Roy Prasad|Leena Prasad| Prashant Singh| Joshi M.

Hope in Numbers — But the Real Story Lies Beyond In FY?2024–25, India saw 4,515 child adoptions including domestic, legal, and the highest number since 2015?16?(PIB Press Release – July 2024) But the picture is complex: 8,598 new children identified as orphaned, abandoned, or surrendered (PIB, Govt of India, July 2024). In 2025, 35,701 families registered (Deccan Herald, July 2024) and ready to adopt and yet only ~2,400 children are available (943 typically developing, 1,538 special needs) (Hindustan Times, July 2024). Average wait time for infants remains at a heart-wrenching 3.5 years (Times of India, March 2024). At Udayan Care, we value the role of family-based care in a child’s development. While adoption is one such pathway, we also focus on alternative care models such as Udayan Ghars, kinship care, and family strengthening, especially for children who may not be immediately eligible for adoption. We are encouraged to see initiatives by various stakeholders to improve the adoption process and child protection mechanisms. As part of the ecosystem, we are committed to working collaboratively to ensure that every child receives the love, support, and stability of a caring environment. If you’d like to understand more about the adoption process in India or how different care models support children’s well-being, we’d love to start a conversation.
